APARAJITO captures the excitement of a young boy’s romance with the world and the quiet intensity of his mother’s sense of loss as he moves out of her orbit. APARAJITO resonates with Satyajit Ray’s personal life as well as his creative trajectory, inspirations, and collaborations, with the Bengali literary classic on which the film is based, and the lived experience of a cosmopolitanism rooted in a hybrid yet specifically Bengali cultural milieu.
