Tourism, Landscape, and Inner Lives in ARANYER DIN RATRI

Four urban tourists encounter the Bengal countryside, with its ecology of forests, tribals, and village fairs, and stage a journey of complex psychological forays. The journey away from the city leads to an unravelling of assumptions as selfhood swings between destruction and discovery.

Ranjani Mazumdar is Professor of Cinema Studies at the School of Arts and Aesthetics at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
